Pressings & Welded Assemblies to the volume manufacturing industries

Additional Premises.

Tier 2 automotive component manufacturer West Bromwich Tool & Engineering Co Ltd have purchased an additional 26,000 sq ft of manufacturing space adjacent to their existing facility on Oldbury Rd Industrial Estate.

The company, which holds TS16949 and ISO14001 certification, is a supplier of presswork and welded assemblies to the automotive industry. A programme of continual investment in modern plant and equipment has enabled it to remain competitive in a difficult global market.

Managing Director Iain Collis said “ This is the third time in 4 years we have increased the manufacturing area and this should house the company’s growth for the next 5 years. Turnover has increased over the last 12 months by 30% bringing our annual turnover to £8 million. This growth, together with other opportunities we have identified for the future, meant we were quickly outgrowing the space available. We were fortunate enough that this coincided with 2 units, that were being used as storage for a major DIY chain, becoming available to buy.”

Business Development Manager David Sneath said “We have recently won work on models such as the new Mini, Nissan Qashqai, Honda Civic and Honda CRV. All of these models are selling beyond initial estimates and that is good news for the UK Automotive Industry and of course for West Bromwich Tool. It was by investing in the latest technology that has enabled us to be competitive and to win this work, sometimes even against competition from lean cost countries. The additional premises will enable our processes to become even more efficient and will enable us to take advantage of other opportunities”.
